Recycling Center Closures

Overview

In 2014, the only remaining centrally located recycling center in San Francisco shut down all operations. Street recycling is both an urban waste management necessity as well as a hard earned employment opportunity for poor people. Collecting recyclables is a job that exists in every city throughout the world. This short documentary captures the voices of local recyclers as they process how this closure will impact their livelihoods. This video was in collaboration with volunteers from the SF Coalition on Homelessness.
